Robert “Bob” Albert Parker, 82, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at Southern Care Assisted Living in Tifton. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. Terrell Roberts officiating. Mr. Parker will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends Friday, August 14, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Quinn Baldree, Derrick Baldree, Tommy Bowen, David Keen, Joey Hampton and Paul Young will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Parker was born September 24, 1932 in Miami, Florida, the son of Charles Harry Parker, Sr. and Juanita Freeman Parker, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Janie Smith Parker; and one sister, Anne Parker Keen. He retired from the United States Marine Corps as a First Sergeant. He also served as a drill instructor at Parris Island and served in the Vietnam War and the Korean Conflict, where he was wounded in action. After retiring from the military, he was an insurance adjuster.
Mr. Parker is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Dodie Parker of Duluth; two daughters, Bobbie Parker Baldree and Bonnie Parker, both of Tifton; one brother, Charlie Parker of Brunswick; three sisters, Emily Palmonteer, Paula Smith and Jennifer Nix, all of Brunswick; seven grandchildren, Ashley Sumner, Mandy Parker, Jessica Parker, Hunter Parker, Quinn Baldree, Derrick Baldree and wife April and Kelli Kent Doss and husband, Jonathan; and five great-grandchildren.
