Obituary

Helen, formerly of Sutton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11th after a long illness. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 43 years, Nicholas and her sister, Louise Peters. She is survived by her brother, James A. Christo and his wife, Joan of Holden; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Bennett of Worcester; and many nieces, nephews, and their children.
Helen was born and raised in Worcester, the eldest child of the late Lazo and Vanthia (Lazar) Christo. She graduated from Worcester Dale Fanning Girls Trade School. Prior to her marriage, Helen was employed for many years at GE Telechron in Worcester as well as holding numerous part-time jobs in loving support of her widowed mother and younger siblings.
Helen was always quick to help and to smile. She volunteered her services as a hair dresser or seamstress to her family, neighbors and friends and when special occasions arose. She loved to work in her garden and refinish treasures she found at consignment shops. She enjoyed entertaining her nieces and nephews with song and dance. Helen lived generously and loved fully. She will be dearly missed.
Her family gratefully thanks the staff at Holy Trinity and Rehabilitation Center for their dedication and compassionate care: especially nurses Lois and Moe, all the Certified Nursing Assistants, and HTNR Hospice Volunteers. We also thank St. Rafqa Prayer Shawl Ministry of St. John’s Church, Worcester. May God bless all their efforts to comfort others and may Helen’s memory be eternal.
Her funeral is Friday, August 14th, with a service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Church, 545 Salisbury Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to pay their respects from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at St. May’s Assumption Albanian Church.
