Obituary

SALEM – Eleanor ( Blenkhorn) Twombly, 90, of Salem, died Saturday at the Life Care of the North Shore, Lynn, with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her first husband, Vernon Coleman, and later by Charles Twombly.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Gladys (Hebb) Blenkhorn. Eleanor was a resident of Salem for most of her life and also lived in Nahant during the 1950’s.

She was an active member of the Salem Council on Aging, and was also involved in programs at the Peabody and Danvers senior centers. She sang with the Golden Tones and enjoyed singing at various venues and local events.

Eleanor was employed at GTE Sylvania for over 30 years, working mostly at the Boston Street, Salem plant, then later, at the Loring Avenue plant until her retirement.

She is survived by one daughter, Laurel A Tidmarsh and her husband James of Lynn, two sons, Vernon “Skip” Coleman of Lynn, Brian E. Coleman and his wife Deborah of Methuen, three grandchildren, Mellissa White, Kendra Rioux, Lindsay Healey, three great grandchildren, James White, Kagen Fontaine, Mackenzie Hines, one brother, Robert E. Blenkhorn, a sister Elsie M. Murphy, both of Salem and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Stanley R. “Rudy” Blenkhorn, Curtis Blenkhorn, Leonard Blenkhorn and Howard Blenkhorn.

Her funeral service will be held Thursday, August 13, 2015, at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, with a visitation from 2 to 4 pm, followed by a service at 4 pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
