Richard L. Winchester, 80, of Hudson and formerly of Northboro, died on Wednesday, Aug. 5th at Marlborough Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to the late Muriel L. (Normand) Winchester who died in June of 2014.
Richard was born and raised in Maine, son of the late Guy and Helen (Burrows) Winchester. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps until being honorably discharged in 1956. He worked for 50 plus years as a heavy machine operator for the Fafard Construction Co. in Ashland until retiring in 2006. Richard resided in Hudson for many years and resided in Northboro from 1971 to 1991 when he returned to Hudson.
Richard was a tireless worker and in his spare time enjoyed watching western movies on television. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and later his great grandchildren. He always looked forward to attending all their activities and cherished the times they shared. He will truly be missed.
He is survived by his son, Richard J. Winchester of Hopkinton; his three grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and also leaves his two brothers, William and Roger Winchester; three sisters, Donna Normand, Nancy Kerrigan and Eleanor Winchester along with many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Claude, Robert, Frank and Carl Winchester.
A graveside service and celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15th at 11:00 a.m. in Forestvale Cemetery, Broad Street, Hudson. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of: Tighe-¬Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
