Obituary

East Bridgewater – August J. “Gus” Dube, Jr. 82, a lifelong resident of East Bridgewater, passed away Monday August 10 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Brockton he was the son of the late August and Emily (Sylvia) Dube.

In 1998 he retired after 40 years from the East Bridgewater Tree Department where he had served as Tree Warden.

He was a member of Trout Unlimited and the Tree Wardens & Arborists Association, having served as treasurer for both organizations for many years.

As an active member of the East Bridgewater community, Gus was instrumental in the formation of the “Kids Fishing Derby” in East Bridgewater and was well known in the area for building and refurbishing wooden canoes as well as building an array of wooden toys, furniture and fishing nets.

He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Horner) Dube, loving father of Geoffrey Dube and his partner Kellie Vaughn, Denise Adams and her husband Stephen, Mark Dube and his wife Brenda, Cherie Rudzinsky and her husband Howard, Step Dad to Laurie Murphy and Amy Topham and her husband Paul, devoted grandfather to Stephen and Preston Adams, Jake and Angela Dube, Abe Rudzinsky, Sam Berard, Jake Topham, Chelsea, Megan and Kylie Murphy, Zack Landerville and Amanda and Meghan Vaughn.

His funeral services will be held on Saturday August 15th at 9:00AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St.(Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00AM in the St. John’s Church, 210 Central St., East Bridgewater. Burial will follow in the Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater. Visitation will be on Friday August 14th from 4:00-8:00PM.
