Lester Hayes 62 of Brockton, formerly of Boston passed unexpectedly into the arms of his heavenly father August 5, 2015. He was born October 21, 1952 in Fitzgerald Georgia; he remained in Georgia where he was raised and educated until moving to the Boston area many years ago. He has made his home in both Brockton and Boston for nearly twenty years. He was the loving son of the late Mary Palmer. Lester had a long career as a driver for the MBTA and retired only due to illness following 33 years of service.
He will be remembered as a faithful man with a presence; who always carried himself with pride and dignity and enjoyed the company of others.
He is survived by his children and their families; Lamont Baldwin and his fiancé Kandie Mena of Michigan, Angelita Baldwin of Dorchester, Sarah Crocker of Bridgewater, Leslin and Esteban Boa-Hayes both of Milton; his siblings, Louise and Larry Saunders of Mattapan, Earnest and Beverly Steadman of Milton, Walter and Tracy Palmer of Providence, RI, Patrice Palmer of Warren, Ohio and Carol and Ulysses Upshaw of Perry, FL; his eight grandchildren; his uncle Walter Thorpe and wife Leslie Thorpe; his dear and special friend Carolyn Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Viewing will be held in the Greater Faith Worship Center 120 Safford Street Hyde Park Wednesday August 12, 2015 from 11am -12 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service at noon. Cremation will follow. Lester’s ashes will be interred at a later date next to his dear mother at Oaklawn Cemetery in Roslindale.
