Obituary

Dalton, Olga Wells “Oggie” of Wellesley, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 8 at the age 88. Oggie was married to Dr. John C. Dalton, a distinguished physician at the Mass General Hospital, for 62 years. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Deborah Dalton Robertson (Russ Robertson), Randolph Dalton (Susan T. Dalton) and Susan F Dalton (Greg Spitzer) and her beloved nine grandchildren and their spouses, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of Olga and Raymond Wells. She leaves two sisters Virginia Chandler and Gloria McCreery and was pre-deceased by her sister Ramona Mercer.

Oggie was raised in Waban and graduated from Newton High School. She graduated from Colby Sawyer College in 1947. Throughout all of her school years, she was an enthusiastic participant in many sports and activities. For many years, she was a partner in Greywalls Gallery with her longtime friend, Libby King. She loved art, nature and the peace and challenge of her garden.

Oggie and John’s marriage of 62 years was filled with many happy memories of times spent with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at their farm in New Hampshire and vacationing on Cape Cod.

Oggie deeply treasured her friendships, many of them going back 70 years. She will remain forever the person we want to emulate for her love, her caring, her creativity, her strength, her vision, her compassion and her ability to make everyone she touched feel special.

A memorial service will be held at St Andrews Church on Thursday, August 13 at 11:00 am. In honor of her beloved late husband, expressions of sympathy may be made to Mass General Institute for Neurodegenerative Disease (MIND), Mass General Hospital Development Office, 165 Cambridge Street, Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114.
