Mrs. Hilda A. (Costa) Arpin Andre, of Taunton, died Friday, August 7 at her residence following a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Norman R. “See-Saw” Arpin and the late Manuel L. Andre. She was born 90 years ago in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Samanica) Costa. She was educated in New Bedford and had been a Taunton resident for most of her life. Prior to her retirement, Hilda had been employed as a salesclerk for Goldstein’s 5 and 10 Store for many years. She was a member of the Weir Senior Citizens Club and the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family. She was a communicant of the former St. Jacques Church in Taunton.
She leaves: 3 sons: Kenneth Arpin of Lakeville, Alan Arpin of Taunton and Barry Arpin of Raynham; 2 daughters: Cheryl Campbell of Taunton and Lori Murphy of Taunton; 1 brother: Manuel Costa of Tennessee; 1 sister: Nancy Neuhoff of Arizona; 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Hilda was also the mother of the late Carol Charette, and the sister of the late Lorraine Andrechak, Dorothy Costa, and Mildred Costa.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, August 14 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
