James C. "Jim" Weed, 62, of Yulee, FL passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the Community Hospice Warner Center in Fernandina Beach, FL.
Mr. Weed was born February 5, 1953 in Wauchula, FL. He moved to Yulee four years ago from Lakeland, FL. He was of the Christian Faith and was a member of the American Legion in Fernandina Beach. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving as a radioman in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Northeast Florida Sportsman Club. He was also a retired HVAC project manager for HDI in Lakeland, FL.
Mr. Weed was a devoted husband, father, Papa, and friend. He loved sharing his wisdom with his grandchildren and teaching them. He was active in all the grandchildren's activities; including Trail Life, Boy scouts, Youth Bowling League, Soccer, Baseball, Basketball and attended all their school functions. He enjoyed working with his hands, no job was ever too big or too challenging. He loved his community and was always there when you needed him. He also loved fishing with his grandchildren, music and dancing. He took care of us all, he was our center and our strength.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert E. Weed and Mary Iris Brantley.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Pat Weed, of Yulee, FL; a daughter and son in law, Candice and James Webb, also of Yulee; a brother, John Weed (Tonja) of Sebring, FL; two sisters, Lela Lowery (Danny), of Avon Park, FL and Malinda Gillilan of Lawrenceville, GA; four grandchildren, Evan, Eric, Ashleigh and Emmaleigh; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
