New Bedford – Glenice E. (Baylies) Lackie, 80, of New Bedford passed away at home with her husband at her side on August 4, 2015. She was the wife of Richard L. Lackie; they were married for 59 years.
Mrs. Lackie was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Alfred C. and Lena D (Russell) Baylies, was raised by her grandmother, Luella Russell, and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was a former member of the First Primitive Methodist Church where she belonged to the Couples Club, Ladies Aide and was a Sunday School teacher. She attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. A graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1955, she loved her family, cats and small children.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son: David C. Lackie of PA; a daughter-in-law: Marion Lackie of PA; a stepsister: Sandra Flynn of Boston; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a nephew & caregiver: Paul Lackie, Jr. of New Bedford; and many other nieces & nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, August 7, 2015, 4:00-6:30 P.M. at the Kirby Funeral Home, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford. Followed immediately by funeral services at 6:30 P.M.
Interment will be private.
