V. James Iacovo, age 85, of Brockton, died August 3, 2015 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Jim was the loving husband for 65 years of Evelyn (Andresen) Iacovo. Lifelong resident of Brockton, Jim was raised on the city’s East Side, son of the late Savario and Elisa (Massara) Iacovo. He was a graduate of Brockton High School where he was a member of the Track Team, and attended Boston University. He was a longtime member of Local Union 424, where he was a Master Carpenter and Union Supervisor of large construction projects. Jim was a hard worker who enjoyed creating and building. His greatest accomplishment was building his home singlehandedly. He also enjoyed swimming and spending time with his grandson Ben.
He was the father of Jim Iacovo and his wife Joann of Canton, Pia Fortin and her husband Philip of Raynham, Peter Iacovo and his partner Robert Rybka of Brockton, and the late Michael Iacovo; grandfather of Ben Fortin, and brother of Irene Litchfield of Brockton, Yolanda Kruger of Bridgewater, Lena Allaire of Hanson, Elena Iacovo of Brockton and the late Sammy Iacovo. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday 4-7pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Saturday at 9am for a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery.
