WHITE, Robert F. (Bob), Attorney of Wellesley and West Dennis passed away on August 3, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Price White. Devoted Father of Nan L. White of West Dennis, Janet Taylor and her husband Alan of Wellesley, Richard P. White and his wife Janice of Centerville. Grandfather of Kimberly T. Glass, Adam J. Taylor and Mark C. Taylor. Great Grandfather of seven. Brother of Barbara A. Kirkpatrick of West Yarmouth and the late John J. White of Brewster. Also survived by three nieces.
Bob grew up in Needham, attended Lawrence Academy in Groton and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont. From 1942 to 1945, he served in the United States Navy. He was commissioned a Lieutenant JG in 1943, and thereafter served with distinction in the South Pacific during World War II. He was awarded a Silver and Bronze Star medals for his gallantry in action. Bob attended Boston University Law School from which he graduated in 1948.
In 1954, Bob opened his own law office and practiced as a sole practitioner until 1968, when he joined Sherburne, Powers & Needham as a partner. Bob's practice was concentrated in bankruptcy, trial work and real estate conveyancing. Over the years Bob's practice became focused on real estate conveyancing. He was a member of the Massachusetts Conveyancers Association and the Boston Bar Association. Bob held many positions of leadership and service throughout his career. He was Moderator for the Town of Natick, served as Trustee of the Walnut Hill School in Natick for many years, Trustee of Lawrence Academy from 1974 through 1992. Bob served as President of the Wellesley Country Club. Bob was a Corporator, Trustee and a member of the Board of Investment of The Watertown Savings Bank. In addition, Bob was a Director of the Boston Flower Exchange, Inc.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16) Wellesley, Friday August 7th, at 11am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul Church, Wellesley at 12 noon. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Thursday from 2-4pm. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
