Betty Jean Knight, age 76, died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at her home in Water Valley, MS. She was born March 14, 1937 in Oakland, MS to the late Bradley and Floy Pendergrass McCullar. Betty graduated Jeff Davis High School in Water Valley and went on to graduate cosmetology school in Memphis, TN. After working as a hairdresser, she worked at Borg-Warner where she retired as a machinist. Betty was a member of Camp Ground Baptist church and enjoyed collecting salt shakers, cooking, and helping others. She was an animal lover, especially her dogs and cats. Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother who dearly loved spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 pm in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Keith Burney officiating. Burial will be in the Camp Ground Cemetery with Jesus Malpica, Bob Marion, Scott Weldon, Larry Golden, Jason Sides and Hector Mill serving as pallbearers.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Jane (Charles) Vanlandingham of Water Valley, MS; her granddaughter, Amanda Downs (Jesus) Malpica; and two great-grandsons, Jacob Lofton and Logan Malpica.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Knight and her daughter, Laura Jo Harbour.
