Obituary

Antone "Tony" Almeida, 95, died August 2, 2015 at home after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Virginia M. (Monteiro) Almeida.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Manuel and Maria R. (Duarte) Almeida, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life.
Mr. Almeida was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
He was formerly employed by International Laborers Union Local #385 for many years until his retirement. He had worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Depression.
Mr. Almeida served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He enjoyed building kayaks.
Survivors include 3 sons, Jeffrey Ramos of New Bedford, Robert Ramos of Dartmouth and Russell Almeida of Houston, TX; a daughter, Patricia Henderson and her husband Darry of Stoughton; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Frank Almeida and Inez Trent.

His Funeral will be held on Thursday, August 6th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, August 5th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
