Obituary

John J. Nicholson 90, of Grace Ave. died July 30, 2015 at Landmark Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Viviane B. (Ladouceur) Nicholson. Born in Fairlee, VT he was a son of the late Hughe and Florence (Grand) Nicholson. At the age of six he and his siblings became the foster children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rosalphe Brodeur who raised them till adulthood. John was a carpenter and handyman for several area contractors, working well into his eighties. He worked part time as a professional pallbearer for the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home. He was a member of the St. Joseph Veteran Association and the St. Joseph Senior Citizens. John was a very sociable person who loved to laugh. He was a frequent patron of Danny’s Restaurant on Cass Ave. where he enjoyed his pancakes.

He is survived by a daughter Pauline Angela Fontaine of Montgomery, AL, two grandchildren, Matthew and Bethany and four great grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces and nephews including Richard Demers of Norton, MA. John was predeceased by his siblings. Thomas, Samuel, Donald, William and Elizabeth Nicholson, Ruth Lemski and Florence Tellier.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday 6-8 p.m.
