George J. Nunes, 65, of New Bedford died May 5, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
He was the longtime companion of Dureel "Del" Poulin of New Bedford,and son of the late John S. Nunes, Jr. and Maria E. (Almeida) Nunes.
Mr. Nunes was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church.
Mr. Nunes was formerly employed by Acushnet Rubber Company for 33 years until his retirement in 1999.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his longtime companion; 4 daughters, Christine Rancowitz, Lori Augustus and Jada Baptiste, all of New Bedford, and Charlene Everett of Acushnet; a step-daughter, Tina Cox of Fairhaven; a step-son, Dennis Poulin of Fairhaven; a brother, Antone Nunes of Florida; 9 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late John Nunes and Antonette Borges.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Thursday, May 9th at 10 AM.
Visiting hours Wednesday 5-8 PM.
Interment private.
