Obituary

W. Malcolm Gray, Jr., 96, of Division Street, East Greenwich, died Friday, July 24, in the Roberts Health Centre, North Kingstown. He was the husband of Mary A. (Church) Gray.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late W. Malcolm and Elizabeth (Walker) Gray. Before moving to New England, he was a long-time resident of Silver Spring, MD. He was an Army Veteran of WWII.

Mal graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and was an Electrical Engineer for the John’s Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory for 42 years before retiring. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed photography, birding and hiking.

Besides his wife he leaves his daughters, Anne Rothenberg and her husband Bob of North Kingstown, Alves Weirman and her husband Frank of Lincoln, NE, a son-in-law, George Apple of Berlin, MD, nine grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren and a brother, Douglas W. Gray and his wife Patti of Schenectady, NY. He was the father of the late Betsey Apple.

A memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 11:30am in the North Scituate Baptist Church, 619 West Greenville Road, North Scituate, RI. Visitation respectfully omitted. Burial private.
