Obituary

James A. Hand, 77, of Bellingham died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Milford Regional Medical Center.

Born in Washington, D.C. on September 20, 1937, he was the son of the late Ellsworth Joseph and Elizabeth (Clouser) Hand.

Jim was a resident of Bellingham since 2004 and formerly resided in Framingham.

Jim earned a bachelor of science in physics from Washington College, an MBA in management from Hofstra University, and a Master Certificate in computer programming from Boston University.

Before his retirement, he worked at Draper Labs in Cambridge for 30 years.

Jim served on the Missions Ministry Team at the Medway Village Church. He enjoyed artwork, specializing in recreating masterpiece paintings. Jim was an avid golfer and sports fan. He was especially proud of his work on the Apollo Space Project that was celebrated with a document that contained his signature (along with the other NASA employees) being carried to the moon on the first landing mission.

He is survived by his longtime beloved companion Barbara L. Thibault of Medway, two sons, Scott Hand of Watertown and Glen Hand of North Grafton and two daughters, Jamie Bradley of Framingham and Kerry Brown of Upton.

He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a brother Robert Hand of Texas, and his former wife, Judy (Merget) Hand of Georgia.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Medway Village Church, 170 Village St. in Medway on Saturday, August 1 at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Medway.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5 -8 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Medway Village Church Memorial Fund, 170 Village St., Medway, MA 02053.
