Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Jean A. (Jarvis) Reed, 75, died Sunday, May 24, 2015 in the Essex Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late James L. Reed, Sr. who died in 2003.
Born in Gloucester on November 20, 1939, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Mullin) Jarvis. She had resided in Gloucester for over sixty years before moving to Peabody ten years ago. Jean worked on the Gloucester fish pier for the former Kennubuck Fish Co. She also worked as a domestic for several Cape Ann families.
Jean enjoyed being with her family and especially loved her grandchildren and her great-grandson, Brayden Abbott and loved when she got to visit with them. She also loved children and enjoyed cooking. Her family meant the world to her. Jean also took great pride in caring for the elderly.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Barnes Connolly and her husband, Jerry of Peabody; her son, James Reed, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Fort Mill, SC; four grandchildren, Josephine Margiotta-Nelson and her husband, Rob Nelson of Peabody, Gina Margiotta of Haverhill, Jake Reed and Trey Reed both of Fort Mill, SC; one great-grandson, Brayden Abbott; two brothers, Jack Jarvis and his wife, Anne of Ocala, FL and William Jarvis of Beverly and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her son, John T. Barnes.
Her funeral service will be privately held with her family in the Seaside Cemetery, (Lanesville) Gloucester. There are no visiting hours.
