Bruce E. Fernandes, 48, of Pascoag died in a tragic motorcycle accident on Friday July 10, 2015 while vacationing on Cape Cod. He was the beloved husband of Jennifer A. (Fafard) Fernandes and the proud dad of Brittany Fernandes also of Pascoag. Bruce and Jennifer were married on April 8, 1995.
Born and raised in Woonsocket he was a son of the Robert J. Fernandes, Sr. and his wife Marie and the late Constance (Turcotte) Fernandes who passed away in 1981.
Bruce was the co-owner of Henri’s Automotive Repair on Park Ave. and was the founder of Koury’s Auto Detail service on Providence St. Bruce had an encyclopedic knowledge of all things automotive; there wasn’t anything he didn’t know about cars and how to fix them. At Henri’s or Koury’s you walked in a customer but walked out a friend, Bruce had that effect on everyone he met.
Bruce worked hard and played hard. He was a mustang and Harley-Davidson enthusiast. He enjoyed skiing and particularly loved being near the sea whether at the beach or on a boat. Bruce especially enjoyed his family vacations in Aruba and the Caribbean.
Bruce will be deeply missed. He leaves a legacy of a strong work ethic, profound love for his family and his many friends, and his trademark can-do attitude to everything he put his mind to. His spirit and special sense of love and fun will live on in the hearts of all those lives he touched.
In addition to his wife, daughter, father and step-mother Bruce is survived by his siblings Robert Fernandes Jr. of Glendale, Diane Frenette of Mapleville, Marc Fernandes of Blackstone, Gary Fernandes, Brian Fernandes and Scott Fernandes all of Woonsocket. He was the brother of the late Alan G. Fernandes who passed away in 2011. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be Saturday at 10:00 am in the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Rd. North Smithfield. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St. Blackstone. Visiting hours are Friday from 3-7 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Bernon Little League 777 Providence St. Woonsocket, RI. 02895.
