Rosemary L. (Tavares) Johnson, 52, of Dartmouth died April 29, 2005 at home surrounded by her family after a long courageous battle with cancer.
She was the wife Ronald W. Johnson.
Born and raised in New Bedford, daughter of the late Alfredo and Dominga (Pina) Tavares, she lived in Dartmouth for the last 20 years.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the International Church of the Nazarene.
She was employed as a certified nurses assistant at Mediplex Rehabilitation Hospital in New Bedford for a year. Prior to that, she worked at the Providence Main Post Office and Aetna Life and Casualty Company.
Mrs. Johnson enjoyed spending time with her family and baking.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Ronald W. Johnson, Jr. of Dartmouth; 7 brothers, Alfred Tavares, Kenneth Tavares, Stephen Tavares and David Tavares, all of New Bedford, Daniel Tavares of Dartmouth, Antonio Tavares of Wareham and Maurice Tavares of Mattapoisett; 5 sisters, Geraldine "Jaye" Tavares and Margaret Tavares, both of Dartmouth, Linda Tavares of New Bedford, Carolyn DaLomba of Osterville and Caroline Sylvia of Marion; many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Eugene Tavares.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service in the International Church of the Nazarene, Tuesday, May 3rd at 10 AM.
Visiting hours Monday, May 2nd from 4-8 PM.
Interment Pine Grove Cemetery.
