San Diego, CA - David Joseph Hennessey, age 53, formerly of Massachusetts, died Saturday, July 18, at the Paradise Valley Hospital in National City, California.
He was born in Brighton, January 30, 1962, one of eight children of the late Albert B. and Kathleen M. (McGowan) Hennessey, and was raised in Brighton, MA. He attended Saint Columbkille Parochial Schools and graduated from Saint Columbkille’s High School. He earned diplomas from the former Hickox Business School in Boston, the Wilson Cake Decorating School, and attended Harvard Business School’s extension courses. He worked as a paralegal in California, but followed his passion for cooking in his role as a Chef in several West Coast restaurants. David had an open heart for the disadvantaged, and was a tireless volunteer at several San Diego nutrition programs serving the poor and homeless. He participated and enjoyed singing and was a member of several adult choirs, and was also known for his artistic talents. He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends in the San Diego area.
He leaves his siblings, Robert and his wife Joyce Hennessey of Woodsville, NH, Barbara Faragi of Tewksbury, Maureen Sarantakos of So. Berwick, ME, Joanne and her husband Gordon Rouston of Plymouth, MA, James and his wife Linglin Hennessey of Leesburg, VA, Timothy Hennessey of Frackville, PA, a sister-in-law, Marina Hennessey of So. Dartmouth, MA, the wife of his late brother Francis Hennessey; several aunts and uncles; numerous nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by his brother-in-law, John P. Faragi Jr.
Memorial visitation will be held Friday, July 31, from 10:00 am. until 11:00 a.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. A Memorial Mass will follow on Friday at 11:30 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury with burial in Tewksbury Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.
