Phillip Dean Whiteman

Phillip Dean Whiteman, 85, of Anderson, died Saturday, July 18, 2015 at his home following an extended illness. He was born on May 9, 1930 in Fall Creek Township, Madison County, Indiana, the son of Carl L. and Thelma (Lowe) Whiteman.
He was employed as a utility man with Delco Remy for 36 years, retiring in 1986. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Pendleton American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking crafts and camping, and had served as the past president of the 4H League Horse and Pony division. He married Marylin June McCorkle on October 12, 1956 and she preceded him in death on December 31, 2014.
Survivors include four children; Michael Dean (Debbie) Whiteman, Joyce Anne (Steve Rushton) Baker, Danette Marie Roland, and Phillip Lee (Lori) Whiteman. 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and 2great great grandchildren; twin sister, Phyllis Elsey, and 3 additional sisters, Marilou Wolford, Linda (Rex) Kendell, and Sharon Tuttle, and several nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by 2 sisters in law; Mary Ellen McCorkle and Freida Johnson.
Preceded in death by his parent, his wife, and 3 brother, Carl, Jerry, and Samuel David.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 10 AM at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service with Pastors Mike Whiteman and Gary Mac Warner officiating. Burial will follow at Grovelawn Cemetery in Pendleton with military graveside honors.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
