DUDLEY – Edwin E. Holewa, 93, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston with family at his side. His wife of 63 years, Winifred K. “Winnie” (Markuski) Holewa, died in 2008.
He leaves a daughter, Edwina E. Holewa of Dudley; a son, Joseph E.Holewa and his wife Judy of Charlton; 6 grandchildren, Michelle, William Borowski of Millbury, Laura Holewa of Centennial, CO, Colleen Holewa of Dudley, Caitlin Rickaby of Clinton, CT and Brian Kiley of Southbridge; 3 great-grandchildren, Gianna, Michael and Angelina Borowski, all of Millbury; a sister, Rita Lada of Webster; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
He was born in Dudley, a son of Joseph and Anna (Lis) Holewa and lived there all his life.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant.
Mr. Holewa worked in the shoe industry, mostly as a foreman at Bates Shoe Company in Webster, retiring in 1982.
He was a communicant of Saint Andrew Bobola Church and a member of the Dudley PNA. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 21, at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main Street (please meet at the church). Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. Memorials in his name may be made to either St. Anthony’s Shrine, 5000 Colerein Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45223 or to St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St., PO Box 98, Dudley, MA 01571-0098.
