SHIRLEY J. (MARTIN) JERMYN, age 77, a resident of Plymouth for the past 30 years, died on Tuesday, April 26th at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
Ms Jermyn was born in Newton and was raised in Brighton. She was a graduate of Brookline High School and Hope College in Michigan. Prior to moving to Plymouth, she lived at various times in Hingham, Scituate, Weymouth and Quincy. She was a licensed insurance broker and was associated for many years with the Court Street Insurance Agency, Inc. in Plymouth. She retired in 1994. She was a Past President of the Plymouth County Area Insurance Agents Association, a Past President of the Mayflower Chapter of the Sweet Adelines and a Past Secretary of the Dorothy Bradford Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.
Ms Jermyn also sang with church and college choirs, the Sweet Adelines and the Hingham Civic Chorus.
She was the mother of Lee Allston Jermyn of Boston, Claire Jermyn Testa of Quincy, Joy Jermyn Flowers of Hingham and the late Lynn A. Jermyn. Grandmother of Richard and Danielle Testa and great grandmother of Cameron Testa.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, April 30th at 11 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.
Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Mass. General Hospital for Ovarian Cancer Research, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114 or to the American Obesity Association Research Foundation, 1250 24th St., N.W., Suite 300, Washington, DC 20037.
The interment is to be private.
