FALL RIVER - Joao Santos Medeiros, 81, of 27 Gagnon St., Fall River, died Tuesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Maria do Carmo (Aguiar) Medeiros. He was the father of Antonio N. Medeiros of Fall River, John A. Medeiros of Swansea, Carlos A. Medeiros of Sao Miguel, Azores, Aldavina Ferreira of Westport, Maria “Connie” Silva of Fall River, Anna Cabral of Fall River, Linda Silva of Fall River, and Mary Lou Macedo of Swansea. He was the brother of Jaime Medeiros of Fall River, Arthur Medeiros of Fall River, Jose Medeiros of Somerset, Irene Oliveira of Fall River, and Maria do Carmo Bettencourt of Sao Miguel, Azores. He was the grandfather of fifteen & great-grandfather of two. He was also the uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Born in Santo Antonio, alem Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores. He was the son of the late Joao Santos Medeiros and the late Maria do Carmo Medeiros. He had been a Fall River resident since 1972. Before retiring, he worked in Maintenance at the Foxboro Co. He was a member of Espirito Santo Church.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St. on Friday at 8:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Espirito Santo Church, Alden St. at 9:00 A.M. Internment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 5-9 P.M.
