Eleanor L. (Bruce) MacMackin, , of Taunton, formerly of North Easton, passed away on Saturday April 23, 2005, at Morton Hospital and Medical Center in Taunton. She was 91 years old. She was the wife of the late Lester MacMackin and daughter of the late Mr. Clarence J. and Mrs. Lucy May (Alger) Bruce.
Mrs. MacMackin was born July 14, 1913 in Easton,MA and resided there for most of her life. She attended Easton Public Schools and was a graduate of North Easton High School.
She was employed as a shoemaker, by The former Stride-Rite Shoe Company in Brockton for over twenty five years.
Mrs. MacMackin was a dedicated member and attended the Pilgrim Congregational Church of Taunton. She was very active on various church committees and participated in many church activities.
She enjoyed cooking and was dedicated to her family.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Robert B. MacMackin of Medfield, Scott A. MacMackin of Wareham, Brian D. MacMackin of East Taunton, Steven M. MacMackin of Taunton, Tara J. MacMackin of Berkley, her daughter in law, Barbara B. McCarthy of Berkley, her sister in law, Jennie L. Bruce of Stoughton, several nieces, nephews and two close first cousins, Ralph “Red and Alice Bruce, both of Brockton. She was also a sister to the late Arlene Sullivan and Eugene J. “Bud” Bruce and mother of the late Ronald B. MacMackin and Norman R. MacMackin.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 27, 2005 at 12 Noon, in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street (Off Rt. 138 at the Webster Saving’s Bank), Stoughton, with the Reverend Susan N. Thornton, officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot at South Easton Cemetery, South Easton, MA.
Visiting hours are also on Wednesday morning prior to the service from 10 A.M.- 12 noon. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
