Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 pm. Obituary
Mr. Mathews died unexpectedly Sunday morning in Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Florida after being stricken ill while on vacation. He was the husband for 33 years of Carol A. (Price) Mathews. He was born in Brockton, son of the late Charles E. and Barbara (Keough) Mathews. Mr. Mathews had been a life long resident of Brockton, graduated from Brockton High School Class of 1967 and he had also attended Massasoit Community College. At the time of his death he was an employee of Bay State Gas Company for 35 years and was a member of AFL-CIO Local 273.
He was a NASCAR enthusiast, loved to travel with his wife and enjoyed time spent with his four grandchildren He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Brockton.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 33 years, Carol A. (Price) Mathews, a daughter, Melissa L. Lasko of N. Attleboro and a son, Jonathan C. Mathews and his wife Rachel of Bridgewater, four grandchildren, Matthew Lasko, Kaylee, Ava and Vallery Mathews, a sister Rosemary Dumais of Fall River and two nephews, an aunt and several cousins.
