John J. Allen
...retired from San-Vel; age 75
TEWKSBURY - John J. Allen, age 75, a resident of Tewksbury since 1961, died Monday, April
25, at his home. He was the husband of Maureen A. (Lyons) Allen, with whom he had celebrated
a 49th wedding anniversary on April 14th.
He was born in Nashua, NH, Dec. 27, 1929, a son of the late Joseph and Margaret (O’Brien)
Allen. He was raised in East Pepperell, but had lived in Tewksbury since 1961.
During the Korean War, he served in the Air Force, stationed in Alaska.
He was a graduate of East Coast Aero-Tec College, and was a licensed A.P. Aircraft Mechanic.
He worked for San-Vel Corporation in Littleton as a diesel mechanic until his retirement. He was
also a member of the AFL-CIO Teamsters, Local 190 in Worcester.
He was a member of St. William’s Church, and the K of C, Fr. Coppen’s Council 4336 in
Tewksbury, and a former member of the Billerica K of C.
He collected motorcycles throughout his life, and owned Indian, Triumph, Norton, and A.J.S.
antique motorcycles. He also enjoyed travel to Ireland.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Allen-Boden and her
husband Frederick of Pepperell, Marianne Turner of Marblehead; a son and daughter-in-law,
Joseph Allen and his wife Maura (Brine) of Pepperell; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, Donny,
Lauren, Jessica, and Molly.
He was also father of the late John J. Allen Jr; and brother of the late Joseph and William Allen.

His Funeral Mass was held Friday, April 29, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury.
Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery,
Lawrence. Memorials to the American Lung Asson., Box 265, Burlington, MA 01803-0465, will
be appreciated.
