Carl E. "Eddie" Edwards, Jr., 54 years young of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones and friends at the Community Hospice Warner Center in Fernandina Beach on July 14, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born May 29, 1961 in Statesboro, GA to Carl "Piney" Edwards, Sr. and Barbara "Sue" Pye Edwards, Eddie graduated in 1979 from Fernandina Beach High School where he met his wife of 35 years, Donna Joyner Edwards.
He retired after 32 years with the Florida Department of Agriculture, Law Enforcement as a Lieutenant. Eddie received his degrees in Supervisory Management and Certified Public Management in 2001 from Florida State University.
His greatest accomplishment was his love for family and friends. He loved hunting, fishing and being out of doors; especially his time on "the Hill."
Eddie is preceded in death by his brother, Terry Robert Edwards.
He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Donna Joyner Edwards; son, Bryan E. (Mandi) Edwards of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Brandee R. Edwards of Fernandina Beach, FL; his two most precious gifts, his granddaughters, Abbigail Grace and Ava Grace; his parents, Carl "Piney" and Sue Edwards of Fernandina Beach; a brother, Sean (Mindy) Edwards of Covington, VA; mother in law, Johnnie W. Edwards; brother in law, Jack Bubba Joyner; sisters in law, Angela May and Robin Hickey, all of Fernandina Beach; several beloved nieces, nephews and many special loved ones, along with life-long friends.
His favorite quote was, "It'll work out"... and somehow it always did.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday July 18, at River of Praise Worship Center, 83410 St. Marks Dr. in Yulee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church. Interment will follow at Green Pine Cemetery. Following the interment there will also be a reception back at the church.
Flowers would graciously be accepted or those who prefer may donate to the American Cancer Society in Eddie's memory.
