Obituary

Romuald Zulawnik, 90, of Medway, died July 9 in the Medway Country Manor. He was the husband of the late Stanislawa (Grabowski) Zulawnik who died in 2003.
Born in Warsaw, Poland, February 7, 1925, the son of the late Sylvester and Franciszka (Lasinska) Zulawnik, Mr. Zulawnik came to America in 1950. He had lived for most of that time in Franklin and Medway.
Mr. Zulawnik had been a cook for the Gillette Company in Boston for many years.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, soccer and the New England Patriots.
Mr. Zulawnik was taken prisoner by the Nazis when they overtook Warsaw.
He was placed in the Flossenburg concentration camp, in Germany, doing hard labor until he was liberated by the Allies. He then joined the Polish Guards and helped the Allies from then on until the conclusion of the War.
He is survived by his sons Romuald S. Zulawnik and his wife Paula J. Zulawnik of Franklin, Stephen M. Zulawnik of Woonsocket, Rhode Island and Paul J. Zulawnik of Hudson.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kimberly Falcone, Keith Zulawnik, Tiffany Nelson, Sara DeBaggis, Lillian Zulawnik and Louis Zulawnik and his great-granddaughter, Sydney Rose Falcone.
He is also survived by a sister in Poland.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 16 in St. Joseph Church at 10:00.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
