Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Robert W. “Bob” Everett, Jr., 84, a longtime resident of the Pine Point section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, July 11, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at West Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on June 13, 1931, a beloved son of the late Robert W. Everett, Sr. and Bernice B. (Morgan) Everett. He was raised in Springfield, attended Springfield Trade High School and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He served his country in the Massachusetts National Guard. He was a 41 year Tractor Trailer Truck Driver and a member of the Teamsters Local 404. He was employed by the Joseph Rosati Construction Company in Springfield and later for the Consolidated Freightways in Chicopee. He won first place in a CDLA Tractor Trailer Rodeo Competition. He was a member, Usher and Greeter at the Springfield Wesleyan Church. During his leisure time, he enjoyed taking his 1956 Chevy Bel Air to many of the local car shows where he won many trophies. He was also an avid Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics fan. Bob enjoyed talking with his many friends (handle name “Skinny”) on the CB Radio and was a member of the CB Channel 5 Social Club. He also enjoyed playing pool and meeting his many friends at the John Boyle O’Reilly Club in Springfield. Most of all, he was a wonderful provider to his family and showered them with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Jacqueline T. (Cooley) Everett. They were married on November 25, 1950 at the Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel in Springfield and were blessed with over 64 years of happiness together. Besides his wife, he leaves his five loving children, Linda J. Duquette of Springfield, Wayne R. Everett and his wife, Kathleen, of Southampton, Robert R. Everett and his wife, Janet, of Springfield, Gary M. Everett and his wife, Crystal, of Springfield and Kimberlie G. Fortini and her husband, Norman, of West Springfield; his 12 cherished grandchildren; his eight cherished great-grandchildren; his dear brother, Richard M. Everett and his wife, Carol, of Louisiana; his dear sister, Bernice Croteau of Springfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Everett and Cooley families. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his loving son-in-law, Roger P. “Duke” Duquette who was Called Home on July 11, 2013; and his dear sister, Betty J. Laporte who was Called Home on March 21, 2011. His Funeral Service will be held on Friday morning, July 17, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 (the funeral home will open at 9 a.m.). His Burial will follow the Service at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker Street, Springfield, MA 01129. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Springfield Wesleyan Church, 98 White Street, Springfield, MA 01108.
