Joseph A. Mecrones, age 69, of Medford passed away April 23rd following a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Anne (Kelley). Born in Boston he was the son of the late Mary (Penta) and Spero Mecrones.
Mr. Mecrones was a retired self employed machinist. He was the owner and operator of the Mecro Machine Shop. Mr. Mecrones was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and served with the Military Police. He also served as a Medford Police Officer for a short time following the war. Mr. Mecrones enjoyed boating and as a young man he enjoyed playing basketball in the local catholic basketball leagues.
In addition to his wife Anne, he is survived by his children, Joseph P. Mecrones of Watertown, Janine Mulkerin of Billerica, and Daniel R. Mecrones of Medford. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Kaitlin, Marissa and Morgan Mulkerin, Brett, Derek, and Jake Mecrones. He is further survived by his sisters Maryann Mecrones of Lexington, Florence Lopiano of California and is preceded in death by his brother, Paul Mecrones.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, Wednesday at 8 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church 118 High St. Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove cemetery, Medford.
