Elsie A. McCann, 79, of New Bedford died April 15, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late James F. McCann.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Deolinda (Ferreira) Souza, she had lived in North Dartmouth for 25 years before returning to live in New Bedford.
She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church in North Dartmouth.
Mrs. McCann was formerly employed by several local textile mills as a supervisor for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed watching her sons and grandchildren play sports, and also enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox. She liked to cook her Portuguese dishes and spend time with her dogs.
Survivors include 2 sons, Bruce A. McCann, and his wife Susan J., of New Bedford and Michael W. McCann, and his wife Darrah, of Bradenton, Fla.; a sister, Gilda Cabral of Dartmouth; 5 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
She was the mother of the late Francis J. McCann, grandmother of the late Jennifer E. McCann and the sister of the late John Souza.
