Thomas Everett O’Malley, age 83, of 76-6 Village Lane, Groton, died Friday at his home after a brief illness.
He was born in Gloucester, MA on July 27, 1921 the son of Charles and Marian (Loveil) O’Malley. He was employed as a Security Guard at Olde Mistick Village before retirement. Previously, he worked as a truck driver.
An avid gun collector, he was a former member of the Quaker Hill Rod & Gun Club.
He is survived by 6 children, Chuck O’Malley of FL, Donald O’Malley of Alaska, Chris O’Malley of FL, Rosalie Parson of FL, Wendy Hilliard of NJ, Donna Carlson of AR, 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Arlene Wyatt of Norwich and Dorothy Gaynor of NJ; his longtime companion, Madelyn Constant of Groton, his extended family, Tews, McCarthy, Weissgarber, Schneider, Teixeira and the McDonough families, as well as many friends. A son, Buddy O’Malley, predeceased him.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be conducted at Elm Grove Cemetery, Rte. 27 Mystic on Wednesday at 2pm. There are no visiting hours.
The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic, is assisting the family.
