Joseph F. Menino, age 95, of Winchester and Florida, formerly of Melrose passed away April 20th following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine (Segalini). Born in Boston he was the son of the late Emanuela (Ruzzo) and Thomas M. Menino.
Mr. Menino worked as leather cutter when he was a young man. He later became the founder and president of the Fidelity Sportswear Co. of Boston which he owned and operated for forty years. Mr. Menino was extremely devoted to his family and in his leisure time he enjoyed reading, traveling and dancing. He was also an avid golfer and held memberships at both the Oakley Country Club of Belmont and Bellevue Golf Club of Melrose.
In addition to his beloved wife and parents he is preceded in death by his brother Carl Menino and sisters, Rose Coppola, Mary Davis, Ruth Correnti and Nora Menino.
He is survived by his devoted daughters, Janice Sarno of Lexington and Gloucester, and Janet DiModica of Melrose. He is also survived by his grandsons, Joseph DiModica of Weymouth, John DiModica of Somerville, Jeffrey DiModica of Cohasset, and Douglas Sarno of Lexington. He is further survived by six loving great grandchildren. He was the cherished godfather and uncle of the Honorable Thomas M. Menino, Mayor of Boston.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, Tuesday, at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge St. Winchester, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 5 thru 8 and Monday 5 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
