Samuel (Sam) Lambert White, Sr., age 82 of Fitzgerald, died Friday, July 10, 2015 at Pruitt Health in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, July 13, 2015 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Ronny Griner officiating. Services will conclude in the chapel. Interment will follow at the Coody-Berryhill Family Cemetery in Cochran, GA. The family will be receiving friends, Sunday evening, July 12, 2015 from 6-8 PM at The Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. White was born, December 15, 1932, in Cochran, Georgia to the late Condrie and Leila Elizabeth Berryhill White. Sam was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation after thirty years of dedicated service as a Civil Engineer living and working in the Stockbridge, Georgia area until nine years ago when he moved to Fitzgerald. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering, he was a “Jack of all trades” his family remembers and he never hired a repairman. Sam honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956, during the Korean War. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Billie Kersey White of Fitzgerald; son and daughter-in-law, Sam White and wife Ruthie of Snellville, Georgia; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy W. Underwood and husband Mike of Peachtree Corners, Georgia; grandchildren, Chelsea, Seth and Ethan White all of Snellville, Austin, Megan and Joshua Underwood all of Peachtree Corners, GA.; one brother and sister-in-law, Reuben Martin White and wife Sara of Perry; two sisters and brother-in-law, Mary W. McIntyre of Sun City, Florida and Carrie W. Varnadoe and husband Charlie Mac of Warner Robins, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.
