TAUNTON – Filomena (de Chaves) Loura, wife of the late Joseph A. Loura, died at her Taunton home surrounded by her family on July 9, 2015.
She was 96.
Born in Santa Maria, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio A. and Maria A. (Borges) de Chaves.
She had lived in the Taunton area since 1955.
A homemaker for most of her adult life and communicant of St. Anthony Church,
Filomena loved life, her family, and spending time with them at the beach house.
She leaves three sons; Joseph, Antonio and Caesar Loura; six daughters, Mari Slavick, Lydia Costello, Rosemarie Yelle, Joan Loura, Jean Loura-Ruszala, and Celeste Parquette; 6 sisters; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late James Loura.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, on Saturday, July 11th at 11 a.m.
The family will be receiving visitors at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the services.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
