SALEM, NH: Douglas J. Wortman, 70, died peacefully at his home on July 4, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Lana (Norcross) Wortman. They shared fifty-one years of marriage.
Born in Malden on July 22, 1944, he was the son of the late John F. and Dorothy (Bickerstaff) Wortman. A graduate of Malden High School, he had resided in Melrose for many years and had lived in Salem for the past twelve years. Douglas loved to watch the Boston Red Sox and golf along side his wife and relished the time he spent with his sons.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Scott D. and Donna Wortman and their two children, Scott and Anna; Steven J. Wortman and Paula Spinney all of Nahant and Glenn R. and Lisa Wortman of Lynn and their two daughters, Ashley Affonco and her husband, Jesse and their daughter, Amelia of Lynn and Alexandra DeLacruz and her husband, Jonathan and their daughter, Mia of Texas; a sister-in-law, Loretta Norcross of Salem, NH; two sisters, Sharon Shannon and her husband, Robert of Reading and Eleanor Cushing and her husband, Dana of Malden and two nephews and a niece.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Thursday, July 16th in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill from 4 – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 Merrimack Street, Bldg. #9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
