WORCESTER-Janine M. (Paulin) McGovern, 53, of 12 Otsego Road died Tuesday, April 19th at home after a long courageous battle with cancer. She leaves her husband of 30 years, Terrance F. McGovern, 2 sons, Ryan P. and Kyle E. McGovern both of Worcester, a daughter, Megan A. McGovern of Alexandria, VA, a sister, Anne L. Paulin wife of Tom M. Glassman of Spokane, WA, a brother, Robert Paulin of Gardiner, ME, a mother-in-law, Teresa J. McGovern of Waltham, a brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph & Elizabeth McGovern, a brother-in-law, Gerald McGovern, a nephew, Patrick M. McGovern, a niece, Sarah McGovern, many beloved uncles including, Rev. Roger Cormier, aunts, cousins including Patricia Ann Paulin and many caring compassionate friends.
She was born in Waltham the daughter of Leo and Irene (Cormier) Paulin. She obtained an associate degree from Northeastern University and a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Mrs. McGovern worked as a registered nurse in the operating room for the University of Massachusetts Hospital-Hahnemann Campus for many years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, A.O.R.N. and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, 235 Iota Phi-At-Large. She loved being a nurse and enjoyed life, family and traveling. Janine’s strength and determination was a true inspiration to those around her.
Calling hours are Thursday, April 21st from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. The funeral is Friday, April 22nd from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, with a Mass at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove Street. Burial is private at Calvary Cemetery, Waltham, on a later date.
