Patricia A. Fox died peacefully in her home that she loved, surrounded by her wife and family on July 4, 2015 in Provincetown, MA.

Born June 5, 1957 in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Shirley Fox. Educated at Glens Falls High School, she graduated from Middlebury College in 1979 with a degree in Mathematics. Pat married the love of her life, Jan Bettencourt, in 2004. After a successful career working in healthcare IT at IDX, General Electric, and athenahealth, she followed a passion for protecting the environment and became the Director of Credentialing Development at the Interstate Renewable Energy Council. She served as a member of the working groups for IREC standards development efforts, and was part the team working with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), developing and managing the ANSI-IREC Accreditation Program. Pat was a co-founder of the Waltham Energy Action Committee for the City of Waltham, Massachusetts. She published articles and spoke nationally on credentialing of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Pat had a gift for bringing people together. Pat was a life-long sailor and she taught at Martha’s Vineyard Sailing Camp and spent a semester at Mystic Seaport. She was always happy in, on, or near the ocean.
