Albert E. Uicker, Sr., 93, of Derry, NH died Friday, April 15, 2005 in his home. He was born in Derry, NH on June 5, 1911, a son of the late Joseph A. and Katherine (Rau) Uicker. He was a lifelong Derry resident and had passed away in the home that he built. Mr. Uicker was educated in Derry schools, and graduated from Pinkerton Academy. Mr. Uicker owned and operated Al’s Food Center on West Broadway in Derry for 39 years, and the Derry Auto School and has been retired for several years. He served his community as Director and Vice President of the Derry Co-Operative Bank, and was an incorporator of the Derry Bank & Trust Co. Where he served as its first Vice President. He was a Director of the Associated Grocers of NH, and Chairman of the Derry Chapter of the American Red Cross. He was also a Vice President and Auditor at the Alexander-Eastman Hospital in Derry and a member of the town budget committee. He served as a member of a school building committee and was a former Clerk-Treasurer of the Derry Fire District. He was an incorporator of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish and had served the Church in many capacities.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Muzzey) Uicker of Derry, two sons, William Uicker of Laconia, Kent Uicker of Maine, one daughter, Patricia Rowe of Derry, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two sisters, Anna Roth of Lavonia, Mich., Mary Campbell of Sun City, AZ, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Albert E. Uicker, Jr. In 1979 and Robert J. Uicker in1991.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday April 18th at 10:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Avenue, Derry. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Thomas Aquinas School Fund, PO Box 387, Derry, NH 03038. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
