Luis F. Fortes, 46, of New Bedford died July 4, 2015 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in Luanda, Angola, the son of Ema M. Pinheiro and Bartolomeu Fortes of New Bedford, he lived in Brockton and New Bedford most of his life.
Luis was formerly employed by Ackerly Advertising in Boston for many years until his retirement.
He enjoyed grilling, carpentry work and spending time with his family and dog.
Survivors include his parents; his 4 children, Raylene Michaud, Alexander Fortes and Madeline Fortes, all of New Bedford and Luis M. Fortes of Boston; 2 sisters, Filomena Fortes and Maria Fortes, both of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren, Nevaeh, Danaeh, Janaeh and Raeh; his grandfather, Vasco Nicolau; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Carlos Fortes.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
