Obituary

FOLEY, Paul Kevin Of Boston, MA. died suddenly at his home in Boston, MA on June 28, 2015, at the age of 61. Paul is survived by his beloved friend Dorothy; his brother, Joseph P. Foley and his wife, Carla of Dedham, his cousin Paul B. Mullen and his wife Patricia of Melrose, and his cousin Carol Foyles and her husband James of Kennebunk, Maine.

He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph D. and Margaret (Cullen) Foley, and brother Francis Foley. Paul was born in Boston on October 8, 1953, but grew up in Salem and Norwood. Paul attended Salem High School and Bentley College where he studied accounting.

Paul spent more than forty years working in the hospitality industry throughout the Boston area. He was valued by his employers, coworkers and guests, as someone who made everyone who walked through the door a friend. Paul lived in the North End of Boston for over thirty-five years, enjoying its close, community life.

Paul had wide ranging interests and equal knowledge of sports, history, and politics. He loved to read and to travel, and possessed that rare quality, of being able to make anywhere he was feel like home, and to make his companions feel the same. He had a smile that would light up a room, and a twinkle in his eye to match that smile.

He was a man of great humor, compassion, and fierce loyalty, qualities that earned him so many friends, who grieve now at the loss of such a good man. He would often tell stories about his mother and father who met in Europe during WWII. His mother, who was born in Scotland, taught him the importance of gentleness and respect, and gave him the ability to understand and relate to the human condition.

A graveside burial service is scheduled for Friday, July 10, at 1:00 P.M. at St Joseph's Cemetery, 990 LaGrange St, West Roxbury. All are welcome to attend the interment, with a reception to follow in celebration of Paul's life.
