Evelyn M. Burghardt, 92, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2015, at Elmhurst Extended Care in Providence, RI, formerly residing on Winsor Avenue, Johnston. She was the wife of the late Thomas C. Burghardt, who passed June 9, 1963, being a widow for 52 years. She would have turned 93 on July 16, 2015.
Evelyn was the oldest daughter of the late Arthur and Louisa (Liptrot) Wilks.
Evelyn was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all and all who knew her. She was a hard working lady being employed by most notably with Sandvik Corporation in Lincoln for many years.
Evelyn is survived by her children; a daughter Beverly A. Luchka and her husband Stan of Johnston; sons, William T. Burghardt of Tiverton; Robert C. Burghardt and his wife Gail of North Providence; Donald M. Burghardt and his wife Maryann of Johnston, her grandchildren: Brenda L. Frederickson, Katherine E. Luchka-Zahansky, Stanley A. Luchka III, Thomas C. Burghardt, Fred Entwhistle, Judith Macaulay, John P. Burghardt, great-grandmother to 22, and her sister, Lillina (Wilks) Filidora of Cleveland Ohio. She was the grandmother of the late Kristen J. Javaruski and sister of the late Constance Gallagher, Mildred Duran, Elizabeth Long, Hazel Wilks and Brothers Robert Wilks, George Wilks, Thomas Wilks.

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 8:30am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the RI Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman Avenue, Providence, RI 02906.
