Obituary

William Dewit Derrickson was born in Springfield MA July7th 1942 to the late Howard and Helen (Welcker) Derrickson and brother to the late James Derrickson of Brockton.

William grew up in Springfield and Walpole. After graduation from Walpole high school, he attended St Lawrence University where he majored in chemistry. Later he served in the navy as an E3 on the U.S.S. Trout. After the navy, William worked as a chemist until his retirement. In recent years he spent his time volunteering at the Brockton VA Medical Center greenhouse. The last 15 years he resided in Whitman MA.

Bill was as an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching the Red Sox. He was a man of few words, but enjoyed a good laugh and flashed a wonderful smile.

After a short illness, he passed away at Beth Israel Hospital on June 25th. He is survived by a sister Ann Derrickson of San Raphael, California, a niece Julie Derrickson of West Bridgewater MA and a nephew James Derrickson of Boston, MA.

Services will be held at Conley Funeral Home from 11am to Noon on Tuesday, July 7th. Followed by a graveside service with military honors at Melrose Cemetery in Brockton.
