Allen W. Farmer, 70, of Fairdale, KY, passed away at home on July 3, 2015 with his family by his side.
Allen is an Air Force Veteran as a radar technician and a retired police officer of 31 years (3 years on LPD, 28 on JCPD). Allen survived two separate incidents of being shot while on duty as an officer. Allen was not only a hero to the county but to his family as well. Allen enjoyed working security and racing at the Louisville Motor Speedway driving his 911 car.
Allen’s hobbies included working on cars and fishing with his sons and grandchildren. He would do anything for anyone. He loved his grandchildren more than anything in this world. He will be deeply missed by his family.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years, Karen J. (Riemann) Farmer; his seven children, Paula Grant, Renae Farmer, Stephen Farmer (Kimberly), Dallas Farmer (Jennifer), Alec Farmer, Jordan Farmer and Adair Farmer-Megraw (Kyle); brothers, J. D. Farmer and “Cookie” Farmer; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with cremation to follow.
