Obituary

Robert ‘Bob’ E. Kelly of Plymouth, formerly of Hyannis and Westwood and South Boston, died on July 2nd peacefully in his home with his family by his side. He is the beloved husband of Mary ‘Mae’ (McDonough) Kelly. Loving father of Bernadette DeVirgillo and her husband Anthony of Medford, Jeanne Sprague and her husband Robert of Plymouth, Andrea McNamara and her husband John of Norwood, Terence Kelly and Jennifer DiMatteo of Dedham and Robert Kelly Jr. of Wilmington. Brother of Paul Kelly of Stoughton and William Kelly of Lawrence and the late Joseph Kelly. Cherished grandfather of Elise Kelly Collins, Stephanie Collins, Angela Chandler, Bobby Sprague, Timmy Sprague, Johnny McNamara, Delia Kelly McNamara, and Emmett McNamara.
Born in Boston in August 19, 1934, a son of the late Patrick and Margaret (Harrington) Kelly of Athlone, Ireland .Raised in South Boston a graduate of South Boston High School and Northeastern University. He served in the US Army during the Korean War Era. Bob was a Mechanical Engineer, working for over 30 years for GSA, a branch of the federal government. He was member of the Sons of Erin in West Yarmouth and a member of St. Bonaventure Church in Manomet. He was active in his church, teaching CCD and serving as a Eucharistic minister. He was involved in his children’s sports and activities. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral from the Davis Funeral Home 619 State Rd, Plymouth (Manomet) on Wednesday at 9:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Bonaventure Church, State Rd, Manomet at 10:00 am. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4 till 8. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
