Obituary

Joan P. Jacobs-Curley, age 83, of Wilmington, passed away June 30, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, of Burlington, following a long period of declining health. Born and raised in North Andover, she was the daughter of the late Sarah (Shibel) and Joseph Jacobs.

After her High School graduation, Joan attended St. Joseph School of practical nursing in Yonkers, New York, and later earned an associate degree at Cardinal Cushing College and was licensed as a practical nurse serving the poor. Joan settled in Wilmington in 1987 when she met and married her late husband Frank D. Curley. She and Frank were very active in the Wilmington community being members of the Wilmington Minute Men where they met and shared many great friends and good times together. She was especially fond of and enjoyed the company of her many friends, taking cruises, going to the movies, her book club and being a long loyal and avid fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Joan is predeceased by five sisters, Gladys Britton, Nora Aziz, Betty Landers, Ethel Vynorius and Sarah Britton. Three brothers Fred, Edward and Joseph Jacobs. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, close friends, a step granddaughter and a step great grandson.

Joan’s family and friends will always remember her as a caring, loyal, unassuming and considerate person. Her sense of humor and her smile will be missed dearly by those that loved her.

A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St. Wilmington, on Wednesday, July 8, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit from 11 a.m. to 1. Services will conclude with burial at the United Lebanese Cemetery, Lawrence.
