Dartmouth – Raymond Figueiredo, age 89, passed away on Thursday July 2, 2015 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. Mr. Figueiredo was a lifelong resident of New Bedford his parents were Alexander and Mary Travers Figueiredo.
He is survived by his cousins: Mary Costa and Tilly Moniz also predeceased by his sister, Florence Figueiredo. As a young man he worked at his family’s business called Travers Fish Company. He later became a fire fighter and was employed by the New Bedford Fire Department for 28 years. His favorite hobbies were dancing to Big Band Music and working on cars.
Seaman 1st Class Raymond Figueiredo proudly served our country in the United States Navy during WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star.
Family Service Association was providing care to Mr. Figueiredo through its Guardianship Program.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Family Service Association guardianship Program, 101 Rock St. Fall River, MA 02720. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
